Letitia Le Coq

This girl plays fast and loose – banned from kissing on the lips by any tennis pro. Frequently not far away from a court, she plays the international circuit and the players. Sipping her Napoleon brandy but never getting her lips wet, pearls of wisdom are never far away. Tennis, Formula 1, Strictly, X Factor, wherever there’s a star there’s a bet. Let’s lick it up, Sweetie.

Letitia Le Coq's Guide To Strictly 2014
Six men and five women have won Strictly since the first series ten years ago but the betting points to the ladies equalling it up once the final dance has been done on the 2014 running of the BBC blockbuster.

Six men and five women have won Strictly since the first series ten years ago but the betting points to the ladies equalling it up once the final dance has been done on the 2014 running of the BBC blockbuster.

Two pop stars top the odds with Pixie Lott clear favourite and Frankie Bridge not far apart in the Betfair market.
But a bloke splits the two and the early preference would be to chance a few pennies on a chap or two as we look to establish an ante post book.

There are a few things you want on your side when searching for a potential Strictly winner - clearly they must have the moves, but will ideally start the series with some room for growth. Last year's runner-up Natalie Gumede arrived on the show at near professional level whereas eventual winner Abbey Clancy suffered ups and downs as she developed her dance floor skills. The public liked that.

Likeability will take a contestant far, as will an engaging relationship with their pro partner - witness Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton making the final last year, and Kara Tointon winning it as her romance with Artem Chingvintsev blossomed.

So who is going to wow us this year and where does the early betting value lie? Here's our guide to the 15 contenders going for the Glitter Ball trophy this year.

    Pixie Lott and Trent Whiddon
    Odds: 100/30 Ladbrokes
Famous for? Pop star with a string of no 1s and a million-selling debut album.
Chances: Big, very big. Let's face it, she'll definitely know how to dance. Chemistry with  her partner will be key, but the odds are tight so we'll leave her be for the meantime.

    Thom Evans and Iveta Lukosiute
    Odds: 9/2 Betfred
Famous for? Formerly a Scottish rugby union international, Evans' career was finished by a serious neck injury. He's now a model. Way back in the midst of time he was a member of pop band Twen2y4Se7en (no, me neither)
Chances: My early idea of the winner. A back story that'll move the crowds combined with catwalk looks and presumably some moves up his sequinned sleeve after his dalliance with pop fame. A major contender.

    Frankie Bridge and Kevin Clifton
    Odds: 11/2 Betvictor
Famous for? Being a pop star in girl group, The Saturdays, and being married to ex-England footballer Wayne Bridge.
Chances: Similarly big to those of Miss Lott. Those years spent in The Saturdays mean Frankie will definitely be able to shimmy. If she connects with her partner and the public she'll surely make the final.

    Simon Webbe and Kristina Rihanoff
    Odds: 7/1 Betfair
Famous for? Another former pop star, Webbe spent five years in early Noughties boy band Blue.
Chances: This man has definitely got the moves and has already had a Strictly experience, scoring 36 points in a 2011 Christmas special. A dad, too, if Webbe gets a bit of love from the fans he could go far. Of interest.

    Caroline Flack and Pasha Kovalev
    Odds: 13/2 Skybet
Famous for? The first TV Presenter on the list, Flack is best known for having once dated One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, but has hosted many a show that I have never seen. She certainly knows her way around the reality television jungle having hosted spin-off shows for I'm A Celeb, X Factor and Big Brother.
Chances: The 34-year-old is a winner of Dancing On Wheels, a BBC3 show, so she will be able to navigate the dancefloor. All about the likeability and chemistry with her partner.

    Mark Wright and Karen Hauer
    Odds: 14/1 Ladbrokes
Famous for? Came to our attention in TOWIE and subsequently won I'm A Celebrity (2011). Now a Heart FM DJ.
Chances: This Essex man is reality TV royalty so must be respected, but we'll have a watch of his moves first as Wright claims to have never danced before. If he's flat-footed you can write him off.

    Sunetra Sarker and Brendan Cole
    Odds: 33/1 Bet365
Famous for? Actress. If you watch Casualty you'll know scouser Sarker who plays Dr Zoe Hanna. I don't so I don't know her.
Chances: Your guess is as good as mine, but the market has moved for her since opening, Sarker opening at 36.0 but backed in to a low of 13.0. Let's check her ballroom ability before chancing any money though.

    Steve Backshall and Ola Jordan
    Odds: 20/1 Ladbrokes
Famous for? The presenter of  'Deadly 60', muscly adventurer Backshall is usually found jousting with snakes, bears and spiders in manly fashion as he educates on the most dangerous beasts in the wild world.
Chances: This judo black belt looks after himself so will appeal to a large amount of Strictly fans. He talks a good game, too, so let's keep a close eye on early dances and take a big odds punt if he shows promise.

Judy Murray and Anton Du Beke
    Odds 25/1 Paddy Power
Famous for? Judy steered Andy Murray's early career and is arguably responsible for his climb to the top of the tennis world
Chances: Slim. Being brutally honest, winners are generally younger that Judy so she'll have to show exceptional dance floor moves or fall hopelessly in love with her partner. She will be a highly determined contestant though.

    Jake Wood and Janetta Manrara
    Odds: 33/1 Betfred
Famous for? Wood is the latest Eastenders 'hard man' (or is it 'bad boy'?), known in the ultra-depressing soap opera as Max Branning.
Chances: Low. Very likely to do a 'Sid Owen' - Albert Square's Ricky Butcher was booted out of 2012 Strictly in week four.

    Scott Mills and Joanne Clifton
    Odds: 66/1  Ladbrokes
Famous for? A Radio 1 DJ for more than 15 years
Chances: Many will recognise the voice but not the face, so Scott's battle - beyond mastering his paso doble - is connecting with the audience. Will add just a little dash of camp to proceedings, which some viewers will doubtless enjoy.

    Jennifer Gibney and Tristan McManus
    Odds: 80/1 Coral
Famous for? The real life wife of Mrs Brown himself, Brendan O'Carroll, Jennifer is Cathy Brown in the TV show and film.
Chances: Hopes for the show are 'to have a lot of fun and hopefully learn to dance', and that doesn't sound too promising.

    Alison Hammond and Aljaz Skorjanec
    Odds: 66/1 Coral
Famous for? After appearing in Big Brother in 2002, Hammond has tucked into a frankly unhealthy amount of reality TV shows including Celebrity Fit Club. Now the celebrity reporter on This Morning.
Chances: Let's be frank, Hammond is a big woman, and was quoted in The Mirror as saying she can only dance for one minute at a time. The history of the show suggests she won't go too deep.

Gregg Wallace and Aliona Vilani - Poor Aliona , Tony Jacklin last year , first out and will go early this - somebody doesn't  like her !
    Odds: 100/1 Ladbrokes
Famous for? Ever watched Masterchef? Then you'll know Wallace, who appears to host every incarnation of the big food reality show.
Chances: Unlike the big man's waistline after filming a series of Masterchef, exceedingly slim.

    Tim Wonnacott  and Natalie Lowe
    Odds: 100/1 Paddy Power
Famous for?  Racking up hours and hours and hours of daytime TV coverage as host of Bargain Hunt. We will all have seen Wonnacott's bespectacled, moustachioed mug at some point in our lives.
Chances: Potential Dark Horse – will not go out first.

ATP Newport Hall of Fame Championships - Samuel Groth to beat Malek Jazeri 2-0 Set Betting 13/10 Paddy Power.

ATP Newport Hall of Fame Championships.
Big serving Aussie Samuel Groth has been worth following over the past couple of month, his game is well suited to grass and after dispatching of American Donald Young in Round 1 in straight sets, will see Malek Jaziri as an opponent he can beat by the same score and keep his grass court season going for a little longer. Groth has had a recent win over Simone Bolelli at the Wimbledon qualifiers in Roehampton, before Bolelli went on to take advantage of his Lucky loser spot playing well in the main draw, but by beating Bolelli (3-1) shows how well equipped Groth's grass game and form is at present.
Recommendation Samuel Groth to beat Malek Jazeri 2-0 Set Betting 13/10 Paddy Power.
